Podcast Hackathon
In the hackathon, we made a podcast based on a character from the book we read in class, The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. The character my group got was the Coach.

I worked really hard on this sheet because I really wanted for this to help out our group on writing the script. One of the parts that we used on our podcast was when Coach was apologizing to Junior for making him play even after he was injured. We also added how he was caring for the boys in the team, giving them a pep talk before the big game. We left out the Coach's voice. I thought it would've been really awesome if Rafa (coach) had talked in a deep voice like Thor.

At first, it was really hard to come out with where the story was going to take place in, and what other characters were going to be involved in it. After getting all of our ideas together, and deciding that the first scene was going to be the hospital scene, then at the gym before the big game started, we started talking about what was our dialogue going to be like. On the parts that I contributed on the script were the hospital sypnosis and also helped my partner Aaron to write the second sypnosis on the pep talk he gave his players. At first, we wrote the scene of the pep talk too, but then we realized that in order for it to go in chronological order, the hospital scene needed to go first. After finishing the script and adding the script we were finally ready to record. Recording was kind of difficult because we couldn't really identify with the characters so adding emotion to it was really difficult. It was fun trying to make the voices. For example, my character was Rowdy, and it was fun to try to deepen my voice in order to sound like a guy.

We recorded our podcast in Dr.P's office. The first day it was fun because we got to play with the microphone and just have fun saying our lines. The second day we decided to actually start recording and it all went downhill. We couldn't go very far without messing up our lines, so we decided to record in pieces. Finally we were done recording, and now it was time to edit all the recordings and put them together. My classmate Aaron was the one that was more familiar with how the editing worked, so he did most of it. He really struggled because the recordings wouldn't save and then when they were finally in a folder, he had to edit them. At the end, the podcast turned out pretty good.
