My second week of internship has been very exhausting, and honestly uneventful. I’ve been doing the same things over and over again, which makes it kind of boring. One task that I was incharge of doing, was making flyers for different concerts. That was something new for me, and I honestly enjoyed doing so. I’ve been thinking of asking my mentor if I can work on making more for the upcoming concerts. The hardest part of being here this week was how repetitive my week has been. I’ve been working on making the online brochure, and I like doing it, but I don’t like working on it all day.  On Tuesday, my mentor was gone for most of the day, so I didn’t really have anything to work on. In the morning I worked on updating and editing two sheets for the silent auction event, and then I was done. After that, my mentor was gone and came back an hour before I had to leave. For the whole day I worked on the online brochure which was honestly very tiring. My eyes were super tired from being on the computer all day. Of course I took a break/ lunch, but it still wasn’t enough. When I showed my mentor the brochure, he said it looked nice. Then I sent it to him through an email, and once I walked to his office to ask him if he got it, most of the fonts didn’t load on his computer. I think it’s because I used new fonts that his computer didn’t have. That was a bummer since I used really nice fonts, and now I have to change them into a basic one that will load on his computer.

One characteristic that I noticed right away was how flexible with time the people here are. For example, Lynnette, my friend’s mentor, is always going to different meetings, or going to other places to get stuff done. I think I would be able to be more flexible with time if I was able to drive. I would be able to go to meetings after 5pm, and therefore I would be able to get more hours in, and learn more things about recreation and cultural arts. I’ve never been good with getting a lot of stuff and going to a lot of places in one day. I like taking my time with the things I have to get don in order to make sure they’re done correctly. I would really like to be flexible with time in order to feel very productive. Since I’m not able to be going from place to place, I feel like I’m not helping my mentor as much as I want to.
