Scenes from Romeo and Juliet
My role for the project was Juliet Capulet. Throughout this project I had to act "dead" and then wake up, run to Romeo, and then kill myself. It was a lot harder than it sounds.

Juliet is intelligent, loving, and determined, I think what really defines Juliet is her relationship with the nurse. Since Lady Capulet didn't really care about Juliet's feelings, I feel like she had to rely on the nurse. I think that since the nurse was loving with her, Juliet grew up to be loving too. What Juliet wants most in my scene was to be with Romeo. That's why she pretended to be dead, and when she found out that Romeo had killed himself, she was determined enough to kill herself in order to be with him. I tried to perform this by acting really frustrated when there was no poison left, then happy when Juliet saw there was a dagger that she could kill herself with. The line that shows the most emotion is when Juliet finds that there is no poison left in the little bottle. This line showed a lot of frustration and sadness. I tried to show this emotion by shaking Romeo's body and throwing the bottle to the side.
My favorite part of the play last night was when Victoria (Lady Capulet) was crying and yelling. She was able to show a lot of emotion with her facial expressions and body language. Based on what I saw last night, projecting your voice, and being able to show emotion not only with you face but with your body makes a really good actor. I tried to be a better actor by yelling at the Friar. I would have talked slower and louder to be a better actor. During this project I realized that being an actor could be a profession I would like to pursue. I think this could be an option because I learned that I am good at memorizing lines and it helped me to step out of my comfort zone. I also learned that working together can be both a good and bad thing. It can be a good thing because all the work isn't given to one person, it is shared. It can also be a bad thing because some people don't finish their work on time and it affects the whole group. Also, I learned how much relationships have improved since Romeo and Juliet was written, but I also learned that there are still problems. For example, women now don't have to depend on a man, or get married at a very young age, but women are still portrayed as weak. In my group's scene Romeo kills himself because he thinks Juliet is dead, then Juliet sees him, so she kills herself. I don't think in our generation a couple would commit suicide for each other.
